The analyst firm CCS Insight stated that it expects the tech giant to begin experimenting with foldable technology shortly and that Apple could release an iPad with a folding screen in 2024 (which they think will be the first to market).

According to a recent claim, Apple might not debut the iPhone as its first foldable gadget until 2024. According to Ben Wood, chief of research at CCS Insight, a company that has been monitoring changes in the mobile communications industry for the past 30 years, “At this time, it doesn’t make sense for Apple to produce a foldable iPhone.

This would offer Cupertino, California-based Apple a chance to test out foldable technologies before investing heavily in a foldable iPhone.

Foldable gadget

According to other rumours, Apple is developing a foldable gadget with a larger screen than a smartphone. CCS Insight’s assessment is consistent with other stories. A 20-inch “dual-screen, folding MacBook/iPad hybrid” with two screens is being developed, according to well-known Apple leaker Mark Gurman, who made the claim in February.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, another analyst who has been accurate with many of his predictions regarding Apple, the company may release a “foldable iPad or a hybrid of iPad and iPhone” in 2025 as opposed to 2024, which is one year later than what CCS Insight anticipates. Ming-Chi Kuo had previously believed that Apple would release its first foldable device in the form of a smartphone.

A folding iPhone would be a “very high-risk” decision for Apple, according to Wood from CCS Insight, because any hardware issues, like those that bedevilled early models of comparable foldable smartphones built by competitors, would seriously damage Apple’s brand. Wood estimates that the price of Apple’s first foldable phone might reach $2,500, or $900 more than the most expensive iPhone 14.

Apple will integrate a processor and 5G chip.

Apple will keep making investments in its own chip design, according to CCS Insight’s prediction.

The tech giant currently creates its own unique semiconductors for the iPhone and iPad. The modems that enable these devices to connect to mobile internet networks for 5G connectivity are provided by US chipmaker Qualcomm.

To create a “single-chip” solution for iPhones in 2025, CCS Insight said that Apple will most likely incorporate its own 5G modem into the A series of processors.

2019 saw Apple purchase the modem division of Intel. This sparked rumours that the tech giant would swiftly stop using Qualcomm and switch to using its own modems in its products. That hasn’t happened yet, though.

Modem division of Intel

2019 saw Apple purchase the modem division of Intel. This sparked rumours that the tech giant would swiftly stop using Qualcomm and switch to using its own modems in its products. That hasn’t happened yet, though.

In June, Kuo of TF International Securities stated that he anticipates the company to keep using Qualcomm CPUs in iPhones arriving in 2023.

Wood claimed that in order to employ its own modems in iPhones, Apple had been “ramping up in-house capabilities.”

“They’ve been aiming for this objective for years (Apple). They bought the modem unit’s assets from Intel, have been working hard to upgrade it, and are determined to ensure that their control points continue to expand, according to Wood.

They don’t want to continually pay a supplier from a different party for their technology.
